Amber and Danny – Engagement Session

8 Feb

I met Amber back in November when a friend of hers referred her to me to shoot her wedding. I like to think we instantly understood each other and I knew that her bubbly personality was a perfect match for my camera! Fast forward a couple months and I had the pleasure of working with her and her fiancé Danny to capture their love before the big day!!

Rachel Safdie

29 Aug

A bit over a year ago, I was up in Montreal for a wedding and had the honor of spending a day with my  Great-Great-Aunt Rachel. The sister of my late Great Grandmother Helen, she lived in Canada so I only got to see her on occasion.

I just have to say what a wonderful woman she was. And how lucky I feel to have been able to enjoy her company on numerous occasions. She was always so cheery and proud of her family. She was a true Matriarch in every sense of the word and her accomplishments and benevolence throughout the community will never be forgotten.

These photos are from the last time I saw her on our outing for some tea.

Here is what is written about her in the Montreal Obits.

Cake! Its Whats for Dinner… mmmmm

15 Mar

Its not everyday one gets to eat cake for dinner. But when you are hanging out with SUPERCHEF Jenna Short of Shortbread NYC, you cant pass up the opportunity to eat absolutely everything the girls makes!

So when I was in Boston, I was luck y to spend 3 great days with one of my great great friends. She cooked dinner, and cake. So while she cooked, I snapped some photos… and since I had a cake craving this morning (and she posted the recipe on her blog <—click), I decided to pay tribute to the greatest chocolate cake EVER MADE!

If you ever feel like ordering some super yummy treats that are not only delicious but healthy, you can check out her online menu on her website —->

With Love

14 Feb

Over the past couple years, I have been lucky enough to follow my passion and be a photographer. I have been a part of peoples lives. They let me in, count on me for their memories, and I consider this a great honor!

I have been fortunate enough to experience lots of love and see love in the subjects I photograph. Being that today is valentines day, I thought I would share some of my favorite loving moments!

With Love,

Marisa

Diplo oh OHHHH!

27 Dec

Last week Diplo threw it downnnn at Grand Central and my boy Ari hooked it up! I am just such a music lover so if you show me a stage, with a DJ on it, and I have a camera in hand (like always), this is what ensues…

Add some Basel

8 Dec

This year I didn’t get to Basel as much as I would have liked to. To be honest, I have been super busy (a good thing) and have felt quite bad that it has taken me almost 2 weeks to update my blog.

That being said, I made it to Art Miami and Scope and Art Asia. Thats all. For the second year in a row, I missed the actual Basel show. I really like Art Miami. My critique of the artwork I saw: I like the use of dimensions and patterns, mixed media, Patrick Hughes and the local Jen Stark were among my favorites. I was a bit disappointed with the photography I saw. There was nothing that really inspired me in that department. Nothing too memorable. Not to say it was bad, but I now feel challenged!

So here are a few photos of things I found interesting at the art shows.

Shakira

4 Oct

Shakira has a dance face. I love her. I love her so much that I saw both her performances when she was here last weekend. I have loved her since first hearing her song ‘Estoy Aqui’ at my cousins house in Bogota, Colombia. I think I was 12. At the time, I was particularly fascinated with how quickly she sang the chorus to that song and I was determined to learn all of the words. Needless to say, upon my return to Miami, I knew all of the words to her album Pies Descalzos.

Now, being the intense Shakira fan that I am, who I attend the concert with is key. I went once with someone (who shall remain nameless) who didn’t know one song and I was left there dancing and singing my heart out all on my lonesome. This time around was much much different. Both times I attended with phenomenal company ;) .

Rabbit!

13 Sep

My close friends the Herzogs recently moved back to Miami in May. As a way to welcome themselves back, in true Herzog fashion, they threw a party. Correction, they threw one hell of a party!! They brought in Mike the BBQ Man and 2 amazing musical acts… Max Matluck opened for Rabbit!

I am not one to write music reviews but their album is easy on the ears, lovely in the heart and even more energetic when live!

You can check out their music on MySpace, follow them on Twitter , become a fan on Facebook or all of the above!

Bonnie AKA Madonna

2 Aug

A few weeks ago, my friends and I attempted to go on a party boat. Not just any party boat, this boat was to be filled with people dressed in their best 80′s attire. Well, when we arrived at the vessel it was filled to capacity so we didn’t board. We were just too many people. So anyway, we ended up going to my sister’s apartment and enjoying the liquor that was left behind from the “pre party”.

In these photos you will see my sister’s good friend Bonnie. Bonnie is an awesome, awesome, amazing, filled with life, chick. She dressed the part of Madonna that night and put on an AMAZING performance of “Material Girl” at the karaoke bar. Thanks Bonnie for being my muse today when I was trying to decide what photos to update my blog with.

Marco Island

26 Jul

It seems as though this summer I have taken more trips to the West Coast of Florida then ever before. Granted I had only been to Panama City Beach back in my college days, but I still managed to make it West quite often for some much needed R&R.

All I did this weekend was sit on a beach and take pictures. You may think I would get bored of taking beach pictures but this is why I had to get adventurous with the shots. I get down low and photograph the smallest details. I also took the G11 to the beach at night. That full moon provided the most beautiful light and I was able to take some pics of my friend. Thank TSH for being such a good model (and for such a great weekend getaway). Love that family!
