Ode to Miami – Regatta 2009

Oh what a day of drunken debauchery, not me… but the rest of South Florida. The Regatta happens once a year, on Columbus Day Weekend. It is a day when the masses flock on their boats to Elliot Key to drink, party, and show their body parts for cheap Mardi Gras beads that stain your skin when wet. I thought this a great opportunity to bring along the camera just to show the people who were not there what they were really missing out on (or not?)

I think the best part of the whole day was the shots I got on the way back to dry land. It was an amazing sunset over the Miami Skyline! Not only did I photograph the sunset, but I got a few shots of the guys on the boat too. I told them I would put the photos on my blog… so guys, you better be reading this :)

Shout out to Gersh and his family for taking me there… and to the Fraynd’s for bringing me back!






















Cartagena, Colombia

Cartagena, Colombia. This place is a beautiful! I went for a friends wedding and got to spend lots of time with my favorite sister… I think for this blog post, I may have to make some comments on the photos because there was so much going on there.
The best was Umberto, our castle tour guide, who introduced himself as “Umberto Rodiguez Campion de la Familia del Architecto….” I swear he had the longest introduction. He did, however, provide my sister and I with quite a laugh for the next few days as we came up with interesting ways to introduce ourselves.
Unfortunately I have no photos of the wedding. I just didn’t want to take the camera out knowing that I would probably be dancing (on of my other passions) and not taking photos.
You will see photos of people in wigs (my family and strangers). Let me explain that this is a project I am working on. My goal is to one day have people in all sorts of countries posing for me in wigs. Something of a contrast between landscapes and cultures and really unnatural hair color. Some of them will end up on my website but for now I had to include them in this post because I thought they were really funny. Plus my dad is a trip… you can tell from the photos! There are more wig photos on my website.
There are also some photos I took from the plane. Clouds and weather has always fascinated me. All the colors in the sky and the patterns make for really good images. So here are the photos I made on this trip:
